Khaby Lame Surpasses Charli D'Amelio As Most Popular TikToker

TikTok has a new reigning monarch and it's Khaby Lame; a 22-year old man born in Senegal and who now lives in Italy. He unseated American creator, Charli D'Amelio, who previously held the record as most-followed creator. Khaby does a lot of comedic sketches/skits whereas Charli specializes in dancing.

To be honest, I'm not super familiar with either of these too. My TikTok feed is mostly that guy who does Steve Harvey impressions, dogs, and smut recommendations from BookTok. But I recognize Khaby from a few memes that circled Instagram and Reddit, and I know Charli's one of those girls that's made millions from copying dances.

I'm curious to see if Khaby will make this year's list of highest earners of TikTok though. If you don't know know or remember, 2021's list was almost all white girls who've made their careers off of copying Black dancers. 

While Khaby has more followers than Charli, Charli has more overall likes. A testement that funny pays, but not as well as being young and pretty, apparently. But to quote Missy Elliot; "Ain't no shame ladies, do your thang. Just make sure you're ahead of the game."

But still, run Khaby his cheques and put him in some national campaign for a mid-tier American clothing retailer like all the other TikTok girlies get.
